Summer
I just sang for the first time in about 2 weeks. I procrastinated way too hard, but fortunately, my voice feels great today! I felt strong, not strained or tired.
Singing makes me happy. I have to admit, my summer did not start out well. I have been dealing with some tough relationship issues, and it has put me in a bad mood all around. I felt like I couldn't get out of my sadness; I felt hopeless. But today, God reminded me that I can have joy again, because He gives me hope. I have been praying for joy over and over, and He keeps providing opportunities for joy, but until now, I did not pursue those opportunities. He blesses us so greatly. Today I decided to move on from my sadness, to start trusting Him again and take hold of those blessings. I thought about what makes me happy, what God has provided for us to enjoy. I started with a cup of tea and listening to music. And just now, I decided to sing again. It felt amazing. I should have been singing all along. Thank you God, for blessing me with the ability to sing, simply because I enjoy it and it brings you glory. Thank you for lifting my spirits today.
For those of you who sing, I know it can be hard work, practicing and memorizing. But remember that it is a gift, and that it makes you happy. Don't procrastinate like I did. If you are down today (or even if you are in a good mood), sing! Make beautiful music and enjoy yourself.
For those of you who don't sing, this applies to you as well. What has God provided in your life that makes you happy? Are you pursuing those things, or are you sitting in your sadness? I understand how it feels to not want to leave those feelings behind, and it is okay to let yourself feel them. But if you feel like you are stuck in it and need to be lifted up again, God is ready to bless you. He already has; just take hold of it! I promise, He will give you joy.
O my Strength, I will sing praises to you,
for you, O God, are my fortress,
the God who shows me steadfast love.
for you, O God, are my fortress,
the God who shows me steadfast love.
Psalm 59:17
P.S. There was one being who did not enjoy my singing today. Sorry Libby. http://instagram.com/p/oZiBUkA01t/
